Saab 9-5. 1998 This is the first year of the Saab 9-5 model which replaces the outgoing Saab 9000 which has been in production for some 14 years with one facelift. 1999 Awaiting Information 2000 Awaiting Information 2001 9-5 'SE' models gain leather door panels, traction control and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. 9-5 'Aero' models gain leather door panels, cruise control, a trip computer, upgraded audio equipment and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. The 9-5 Griffin models gain rain-activated windscreen wipers. The 150 bhp 2.0-litre light pressure turbo engine has also been added to the 9-5 range, as a budget version aimed at business users. It has a carbon dioxide rating 6 g/km lower than the standard car plus lower fuel consumption; it is offered with manual transmission only, and certain options - electric sunroof, electrically-powered seats and audio upgrades - will not be offered. A 185 bhp 2.3-litre light pressure turbo engine replaces the 170 bhp unit in the 9-5 range; this delivers improbed acceleration, better fuel economy, lower emissions and a slightly higher top speed. |
